The company said Wednesday operating profit rose 32.9 percent from a year earlier to 1.67 trillion won ($1.14 billion), while revenue increased 4.3 percent to 23.7 trillion won. Net profit climbed 14.8 percent to 1.01 trillion won. The revenue figure marked the highest ever for a first quarter, while operating profit ranked as the third-largest.
B2B operations are playing a growing role in LG’s earnings mix. B2B revenue reached 6.5 trillion won, up 19 percent from the previous quarter and 1 percent from a year earlier, accounting for 36 percent of total sales.
The vehicle solutions (VS) division, a key pillar of the company’s B2B strategy, posted record quarterly revenue of 3.06 trillion won and operating profit of 211.6 billion won. Its operating margin exceeded 6 percent for the first time since the division was launched, supported by premiumization of in-car infotainment systems and growing adoption among European automakers.
Other recurring-revenue businesses also expanded. Subscription-based services, which combine products and services, generated 640 billion won in the quarter, up 8 percent from the previous quarter and 15 percent from a year earlier.
Consumer-facing businesses rebounded from the previous quarter. The Home Appliance & Air Solution (HS) division posted revenue of 6.94 trillion won and operating profit of 569.7 billion won, returning to profit after a loss in the prior quarter. However, its operating margin fell to 8.2 percent from 9.6 percent a year earlier due to higher raw material costs and U.S. tariff impacts. LG said its strategy of targeting both premium and mid-range segments while expanding online sales and appliance subscription services helped support performance.
The Media Entertainment Solution (MS) division, which oversees TVs, reported revenue of 5.17 trillion won and operating profit of 371.8 billion won, also swinging back to profit from the previous quarter. The division had undergone restructuring last year, including voluntary retirement programs, after posting an annual operating loss of 750.9 billion won.
The Eco Solution (ES) division recorded revenue of 2.82 trillion won and operating profit of 248.5 billion won, though both declined from a year earlier due to weaker consumer sentiment linked to geopolitical tensions in the Middle East and rising labor costs tied to workforce expansion.
LG said it will focus on improving profitability in the second quarter through supply chain optimization and enhanced cost competitiveness.
